Queen Anne’s County Virtual Learning Academy

Queen Anne’s County, located just over the Bay Bridge on your way to Ocean City, announced a 1-year virtual school pilot program for the 2019-20 school year. Enrollment is open until September 30, 2019. Homeschool families who elect to accept the free online curriculum must enroll their children into the public school system before starting the Virtual Academy classes.

Eligibility: Must have been homeschooled for the 2018 – 19 school year.
Grades: K – 8th
Type of School: Entirely online, with classes completed at home with parent oversight.
Class Time: No specific login time. Some classes may have live teachers. If students miss a live class, they can watch a recording. All coursework must by completed by June 15.
Special Education: If Virtual Learning Academy students are found eligible for IEP services, services will be provided through the program.
Extracurriculars
& Sports:
Virtual Academy students may participate in K12 online extracurriculars, but they will not be able to join QACPS sports teams or after school clubs.
State Testing: Required.
Service Learning: Required once the program expands to include high school.
Diploma: This program is not currently offered to high school students.
Computer: All Virtual Academy students will receive a laptop, which must be returned if and when they unenroll from the program.
